Cutoff ranks are approximate, based on JoSAA 2025 closing rank trends for the General category CSE branch, scaled for branch, category and home-state quota. Actual cutoffs shift every year with difficulty level and number of candidates. Safe/Target/Reach are estimates, not guarantees — always cross-check with official JoSAA opening/closing rank data before counselling. BITS Pilani is not part of JEE Main/JoSAA — it requires a separate BITSAT exam.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is JEE Main percentile converted to rank?

Rank is estimated as (100 − percentile) / 100 × total candidates who appeared (about 13,00,000 for JEE Main 2026). For example, a 99 percentile score works out to roughly rank 13,000. This is an estimate — your actual All India Rank depends on the exact number of candidates and how percentiles are normalized across sessions.

Does category or home state improve my JEE Main college chances?

Yes. OBC-NCL, SC, ST and EWS candidates have separate, more relaxed category rank lists in JoSAA counselling, so the same percentile gets a much better effective rank for admission purposes. Home state candidates also benefit because every NIT reserves roughly half its seats for Home State quota with a relaxed closing rank compared to Other State quota.

Is BITS Pilani admitted through JEE Main?

No. BITS Pilani, BITS Goa and BITS Hyderabad admit students through BITSAT, a completely separate entrance exam conducted by BITS itself — not through JEE Main or JoSAA counselling. A high JEE Main percentile does not directly help with BITS admission.
